Many people acknowledge the need for a mentor but are at a loss as to how to find one. This document spells out the role of a mentor, their attributes and skill sets, and how to determine your needs of a mentor. It also enables you to assess the quality of an existing mentor and to make changes in your mentor if required. It is a simple but powerful tool for those taking seriously the need for a mentor in their life.


This document is designed to help people to find a suitable mentor. It includes a questionnaire on identifying your need for a mentor and guidelines on how to choose a mentor using an eight point checklist considering the following qualities of a mentor: -A friend/helper -A catalyst/challenger -A problem-solver/enabler -An enthuser/encourager -An empathy/sensitivity provider -A believer/supporter -A wisdom/insight provider -A facilitator/educator Using the checklist you can also assess the quality of a current mentor.
